The short version
Conversation content never goes to Chatlog servers. Chatlog has no server that receives conversations. Chats are read and archived locally in your browser. Optional copies are written to your connected folder or sent directly to Notion. Website analytics are separate, stay off until you accept, and never run on the purchase-return page.
What the extension does with your chats
Chatlog reads a conversation in the browser and keeps it in a local archive. If you enable Markdown saving, it writes a copy to your chosen folder. If you enable Notion, or explicitly choose Sync to Notion for a chat, it sends that conversation from your browser to Notion. Chatlog does not receive the conversation.

- Dodo Payments hosts
- License checks contact Dodo Payments. Those requests carry the license key, not your conversations.
Notion
Notion is optional. Choose Connect Notion, approve the access requested by Notion, and select the included AI Chat Log template. Chatlog keeps the connection in browser storage and can refresh it automatically. An advanced manual connection with an internal integration token is also available.
Notion sign-in and token refresh use Chatlog's authentication service hosted on Cloudflare Workers at chatlog-notion-auth.vedantchhajed0.workers.dev. Temporary authorization codes and connection credentials pass through this service to complete sign-in or refresh. The service has no credential database, does not retain these codes or tokens, and does not receive conversation content. Invocation logging and traces are disabled. Saved conversation requests go directly from your browser to api.notion.com; each chat becomes a page whose body is the conversation.
License checks
Activating or checking a license contacts Dodo Payments with the license key. A license check does not include conversation text.
What we store
Saved conversations and supported imported files are kept in local browser storage. Clearing extension data or uninstalling removes that local archive. Files already written to a connected folder and pages already created in Notion remain there. The 14-day trial start date is kept in browser storage and in Chrome sync storage when sync is on. Notion connection details, access tokens and refresh tokens are kept in local browser storage. OAuth credentials pass through the authentication service during sign-in and refresh as described above. Manual internal integration tokens are used directly from the browser.
Disconnecting Notion removes its saved connection credentials. Chatlog keeps a local reference to your archive page, database, data source and workspace so reconnecting can resume in the same place. This reference contains no credentials or conversation text and is removed when you clear extension data or uninstall.
This website
This website uses Google Analytics 4 and PostHog only after you accept analytics. We measure page views, install-button clicks, checkout-button clicks and opened FAQ answers. Checkout clicks do not establish a completed purchase. Events include browser/device information, the public page path, restricted campaign tags and the referring website's origin. Unrelated URL query parameters, fragments and referrer paths are removed from the events we send. PostHog website events use its EU cloud service.
There is no session replay or general click/form autocapture. Analytics do not run on the purchase-return page or local previews. You can withdraw consent using Cookie settings in the footer; this stops further tracking and clears events still waiting for the analytics libraries to load. Information already sent cannot be recalled by changing this setting. Website analytics are separate from the extension and receive no conversation content from it.
Payments
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as merchant of record. They hold purchase and email data under their policy. Chatlog does not store card data.
Your choices
You choose whether to connect a folder, Notion, or both. You can pause automatic saving and destination delivery separately. You can decline website analytics. Saved files stay in your folder if you uninstall the extension.
